Kathmandu: Nepali and Chinese parliamentary delegations, attending the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Assembly in Geneva, held a meeting on Tuesday to discuss bilateral relations and parliamentary collaboration. The Nepali delegation was led by National Assembly Chairman Narayan Prasad Dahal, while the Chinese delegation was headed by Thyan Suizhan, Vice-Chairman of the Education, Science, Culture, and Health Committee of the Chinese People's Congress.
The discussions focused on strengthening Nepal-China ties, sharing parliamentary experiences, and exploring areas of collaboration in international forums. Chairman Dahal highlighted the deep historical, social, and cultural bonds between the two nations, emphasizing Nepal's commitment to being a good neighbor to China. He also recalled the 2022 visit of the Chinese People's Congress Chair to Nepal.
Vice-Chair Suizhan expressed China's willingness to support Nepal's development, particularly in infrastructure projects like roadways and railways under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). Both sides expressed interest in expanding cooperation through the Parliamentary Friendship Group. Lawmakers from both delegations were present during the discussions.
